Blessing and Resettlement of a New Benedictine Cloister Reichenstein

The Monastery of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Reichenstein: Saturday will see the re-settlement of a former cloister by a Society of Tradition
On the following Saturday, October 14, the consecration and settlement of the monastery of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will take place in Reichenstein. While monasteries are being closed elsewhere because of the lack of vocations, a new monastery is being moved into Monschau by traditional Benedictine monks.
Monschau is located in the Eifel south of Aachen and borders directly on the territory of the German-speaking community in Belgium (Eupen).
In 2007, the German District Superior of the Priestly Society of St. Pius X, Father Franz Schmidberger, announced the intention to found a traditional Benedictine monastery on German soil in which the sacred liturgy will be celebrated in the Immemorial Mass of All Ages. In 2008, after the purchase of the historical monastery by the St. Benedict Society, the key handover of Reichenstein to the Benedictine monks took place.

After 200 years of revival of an old monastery

Church with new monastery buildings and cloister

In the 11th century, the counts of Limburg had erected Richwinstein Castle on a hill on the upper Rur. Having ascended to dukes, they donated the castle in 1131 to the Premonstratensian Order, which had just been founded by St. Norbert of Xanten. The castle was converted into a double monastery, as was customary in the early days of the Order. When this practice was abandoned, the Premonstratensians, Choir Nuns, remained in Reichenstein. Since 1487 it was then a principal choir house. The buildings, including the monastery church, originated in their present form in the late 17th century.
When in 1794, the French revolutionaries occupied Germany on the left bank of the Rhine, the conquest of the Premonstratensian monastery also began its decline. In 1802 Napoleon Bonaparte, in the course of secularization, abolished the monastery together with many other monasteries.
After several changes of ownership, the lawyer Ernst Wilhelm Handschumacher, the Grand Officer of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher, bought the former monastery together with his wife Helma in 1973 and renovated the complex in the 1970s. It was the couple's endeavor that the buildings be returned to their original purpose.
The twelve monks who will settle the monastery next Saturday, come from the Benedictine monastery of Notre-Dame de Bellaigue, built in 2001, connected to the Society of St. Pius XThe monks speak of the "reawakening of the monastery". In 2009, Dom Matthäus Haynos, the priest of the convent in Bellaigue, was given the name of the monastery church and celebrated the first Holy Mass by a new priest of the monastery. To this end, it had been re-established with a neo-Gothic high-altar with a statue of the Immaculate.
Bellaigue is a subsidiary of the Benedictine monastery Santa Cruz in Brazil. The first four monks came to France in 1999. After ten years, 25 monks were already living in the Auvergne, so a daughter-foundation could be established. For several years, a Benedictine convent has been built, a few kilometers from Bellaigue.
For years there have been urgently needed renovations in Reichenstein, as well as modifications and new buildings. The monks will supply their own heating with 36 hectares of forest belonging to them. The construction of the new cloister was started in 2015. 2017 saw establishment of a provisional central chapel. It will serve the monastic community in the coming four years for the liturgy "in order to be able to reconstruct the monastery church into the central, worthy and sacred space of the entire monastery."
This coming Saturday, Reichenstein will be officially established as a subsidiary of the monastery of Bellaique and be populated by a monastic community.

The program

At 9.45 o'clock Terce and then consecration of the monastery.
At 10:30 am Solemn High Mass in honor of the patroness of the monastery, the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
At 12.30 pm, Sext with welcome and luncheon for the faithful gathering to celebrate this memorable day with the Benedictines.
At 2.30 pm None and then coffee and cake.
At 4 pm Vespers and Sacraments.
At 5 pm, is the establishment of the cloister with the main gate closed.
The Society of St. Benedictwhich is legally responsible for the repair of the buildings, regularly informs about the developments and the progress of the construction work with the "Monastery News." They will be occupied with the young monastic community for several years, as the actual monastery with cloister must be rebuilt (see plan).
"We want to build a school for the Lord's ministry. Everything without exception is to be done in this monastery for the glory of God, so that in all God God may be glorified."
This is how Br. Bernhard OSB writes in the latest edition of the "Klosternnachrichten."
Since 1 October 2017 Holy Mass in Reichenstein has been celebrated every day on workdays, Feast Days, Saturdays and Sundays at 7:20 am and 11:15 am in the Immemorial Roman Rite.
All of the faithful are invited to blessing and settlement of the monastery on 14 October.

Window on Aachen Cathedral Damaged Yet Again

Stone thrown through choir hall window

Aachen (kath.net/KNA) For the second time within four weeks unknown individuals have damaged the window of Aachen Cathedral. This time, stones were thrown in on Tuesday night by two choir hall windows on the north side of the cathedral, the chapter said on Thursday. Just at the end of January a disk pieces had been broken through by a stone's throw.

According to the information presented by Cathedral Master Builder, Helmut Maintz, the police have again been informed. He estimates the cost of repairs to around 3,500 euros. A window with ornaments in red and blue created by glass artist Anton Wendling 1949-1951 - it had to be repaired in January already. The other window was designed by the glass painter Walter Benner in the same period. The Aachen Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the burial place of Charlemagne and an episcopal Church. Mood Music Aachen Cathedral (short video) Trans: Tancred vekron99@hotmail.com Link to kath.net... AMDG

Aachen Cathedral as Intermediate Storage for Baked Goods

Baked Goods in Aachen Cathedral
Edit: Your fathers did eat mana in the desert and are dead.
(Aachen) with a rather questionable action, the diocese of Aachen these days attracts attention. So in short, as it says  on the website of the Diocese not without pride, 1,200 tunnels of the old established bakery in Aachen "Nobis gingerbread" will rise for three weeks in the Great Cathedral in Aachen. The limited edition Dom loafs can be purchased for 20 euros by prior reservation at the feast of St. Nicholas. A quarter of the steep price, ie five euros will be donated to a children's garden. The press release of the Diocese of Aachen states: "With this money a gaming device with slide, climbing net and hanging rope will be financed, at which the tots daycare can play soon."
A representative of the Bakery "Nobis gingerbread" commented on the "publicity stunt" - the motto - as follows "attention at all costs!" "We are delighted that we do this event in the Aachen Cathedral and with the money from the Nobis initiative also do something for the children of Aachen. We also want to thank the Aachen cathedral chapter for its support, to whom we also donate 6,000 euros for the Aachen Cathedral." A little bit of money, in other words, this is reason enough for the cathedral chapter, to turn the House of God - and with such outstanding importance at that - contrary to the desire of the Lord, to make it  a den of thieves.
Canon Hans-Günther Vienken said according to an article by the Diocese of Aachen: "Not only does the Aachen Dom need help, but it also supports other like initiatives.  Ss Martin, Nicholas and Christmas immediately remind us of the solidarity parts. We remind ourselves that we are there for each other. That's also  what the Aachen Cathedral stands for. I thank the bakery combany,  'Nobis Gingerbread' for their generous support, both for the nursery as well as the cathedral."
Quite recently there were  headlines about the Vatican  when the Sistine Chapel was made available to the German carmaker Porsche, for a concert. "Der Spiegel" wrote:  " The UK Telegraph 'reported that it was the first time ever that a Pope released the Sistine Chapel for the commercial event of a company. But how does this fit in Francis' promise that he wanted above all a Church that was for  the poor? Very suitable   said the Executive Director of the Vatican Museums, Monsignor Paolo Nicolini. For companies such as Porsche would be asked in return for the use of the Sistine Chapel for a donation.  This is an initiative to support the papal charities ', said Nicolini to the Telegraph'.  The service is aimed at large companies, which can thus make a contribution to charity. '"
And for the  "Süddeutsche Zeitung"   Catrin Lorch commented on the subsequent dinner at the concert in the Vatican Museums: "So far,  the code has been kept by which one keeps out the aroma of roast  from air-conditioned rooms and  uncorked champagne before masterpieces. But  even if the Vatican flouts its riches,  directors in Ghent, Duisburg and Prague are making arguments against the assaults of the accountants and exploiters. Just as the Pope, who sees himself as contemporary,  has a responsibility to treat the legacy that has fallen to his Church from a bloody, brutal history, with democratic respect, instead of silver plating it. No Room For God in Aachen Diocese's Dialog Process

(Aachen) In the post-Conciliar Church  "dialog" is one of the keywords that can be extremely tolerant person now can not hear themselves. What comes out of a post-Conciliar "dialogue" is not necessarily surprising, but still significant.
The Diocese of Aachen will serve as an example, because there was, about a month ago, the publication of "Documentation of Focus Groups COMMUNITY and POWER" - why such lurid terms? -   In his preface to the comprehensive 46 pages of paper, Aachen Bishop Heinrich Mussinghoff nebulously writes: "The dialogue thrives on  no one claiming  a space alone for himself, but that between the various stakeholders a new, communal space is opened up in which dialogue can develop as communication and as a search for truth."  Remarkable is also the explicitly political approach of the dialogue process, should produce "both in width and in depth, a deeper dialogue among members of the local church and between bishops and faithful,"  which  does not speak of "heights", but namely the relationship with God.

"Keeping open the Question of the Admission of Women to the Ordained Ministries"

The reader should be able to form an opinion based on the following quotes, which remain largely without comment, even as regards the state of affairs in the church. The first "recommendation" of the "focus group POWER" -  we simply omit the "focus group COMMUNITY"  here - is concerned, as might be expected, with the theme of "keeping open the question of the admission of women to the ordained ministries".
In order to keep the question of the admission of women open to the ordained ministries, we recommend the following practical measures:
- the celebration of the day the deaconesses in the Diocese of Aachen;
- use our Bishop and the auxiliary bishops in the Episcopal Conference, keep the question open. [...]
- the recognition of the diaconal praxis in the local church, which is mostly undertaken by women.

"More Women in Leadership Positions in the Diocese"

A similar orientation, the second "recommendation" is to demand "More women in leadership positions of the church in the diocese of Aachen."
Is recommended:
first to update the recommendations from the above study on the employment situation of women in church ministry in the Diocese of Aachen and implement it,
The second to develop mentoring programs and conduct;
The third set targets, in what period what proportion of women is to be achieved in leadership positions;
Fourth establish the position of an equality officer under the Episcopal Vicar General
and provide them with decision-making powers.

"Culture of Power- Abuse of Power" in the Church

While the first "recommendation"  at least  had a dissenting vote,  all members voted  the "focus group POWER" for the second "recommendation", which is fixed only on structures and sounds like the colorless program, a replaceable political party. Under the heading "Culture of Power - Abuse of Power" then we find the following "recommendation":
In the training for future in pastoral  will treat the essential contents of the prevention concept of the Diocese of Aachen (child welfare, dealing with sexuality (even their own!), Perpetrator strategies, victim behavior, action steps for suspected abuse).

Pastoral Collective: "Management in Community"

Again it comes to structures in the fifth "recommendation", this time in relation to the management of parishes or "Pastoral Collectives" or what's left of it, again with only a single dissenting vote.
In order not to jeopardize the positive results lying just behind structural reform, instead of the new pastoral units  in order to fill them with necessary and new life, we recommend to the bishop, all line managers and committees, for the future of our diocese to consider and pursue a stronger principle of "leading in Community."

"Benevolent Encounters" with "Re-married Divorcees" and Homosexuals

To put an end to the misery, there followed a final "recommendation" addressing "remarried" divorcees and homosexuals, which were also honored again, with one vote against. Incidentally, in the next "recommendation" a spongy "benevolent approach" is required for such persons, if they are paid by the Church.
We recommend that you:
1.   make a proposal for pastoral remarried divorcees comprehensively known and expand in the sense that there will be a specific mandate. The responsible contact person, who should be available for victims, will be straightforward and reliable. A range of tasks from personal counseling, mediation and other tasks are to be determined.
2.  make the  pastoral proposal "Episcopal Commission for homosexuals and their families" known to all employees to open up a greater degree of ways to use this pastoral offer. It is, among other things, also helpful to place a note in the schema on this proposal.

What the "Dialogue Process" Does not Want to Hear

An exception in the series numerous "recommendations" of the "focus group POWER" is remarkable, but all "recommendations" were adopted with a large majority, often with only one dissenting vote. The following "recommendation", however, was rejected by the majority and received with only one positive vote. Why? Let the text speak for itself:
With the advocacy for attempting changes in the  organization and structure of our church with our human logic should never be the measure of our decisions.
It is promised to our Church, to last for all time, despite all the weaknesses and sins of Its human representatives. But there have never previously been considerations that were aligned in this sustainability and expression to adapt the elementary truths of our faith to the apparent needs of our time.
Hence, our aim should be to know the will of God in accordance with the teachings of our Church and for us  to be open to His will. If we "Lord, thy will be done" with then we should look for this mandate and reminder and not make of our own human perspective the measure of all things.
The term "God" appears  about 15 times in all the recommendations of the "focus group POWER".  Of this amount, 13 mentions on those "recommendation", comes from the last quote, the other two cases the term "God" was used not just in a particularly meaningful way. A sign of the new orientation of the Church after the Second Vatican Council? Let the reader decide.

Bishop Ackermann Sets Himself Openly Against Rome: Sex Before Marriage is Not a Mortal Sin

The Bishop of Trier would completely change sexual ethics of the Catholic Church: New marriage after divorce is no "permanent mortal sin." Homosexuality for the bishop no longer  "unnatural".

Trier (kath.net)  Catholics who hold to the teaching of the Catholic Church, currently have it  difficult and can expect no support from their pastors in Germany. Several German-speaking bishops have, it appears, firmly resolved to remake the moral teaching of the Catholic Church again. Compared to the Rhein Main Presse  the Bishop of Trier, Stephan Ackermann said, now that it no longer fits the times when "a new marriage after divorce is regarded as permanent state of mortal sin".

When it comes to birth control, the Bishop then pled ignorance and even said: "The distinction of natural and artificial contraception is also somehow artificial.  I'm afraid that no one understandsit any more.." Ackermann  would naturally make large concessions also the subject of "homosexuality". "Based on the Holy Scriptures, which referred to it as a wicked aberration [See Gen 19, 1-29, Romans 1:24-27, 1 Corinthians 6:10;. 1 Tim 1,10], the Church's tradition has always declared  'that homosexual acts are disordered,'" as  it is stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. For Ackermann, obviously, this is an outdated idea. To the newspaper, he says, despite this clear finding of the Church, "the Christian image of man is based on the polarity of the sexes, but we can not just say that homosexuality is unnatural" What the Catholic Church really says on this subject: http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_P85.HTM

QUOTE from the HOLY SCRIPTURE:  For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.(Romans 1:26-27.

The Birthday of Blessed Charlemagne the Great

Edit: the following's a brief translation in honor of the birthday of Blessed Charlemagne the Great by Father Gero Weishaupt.

On January 28th 814, Blessed Charlemagne the Great died in his beloved Aachen Palace.  In 2014, Aachen and Europe will hold his 1,200th birthday.  Charlemagne was, according to Einhard, his biographer, interred in the palace chapel which still is located in today's Cathedral.  Bl. Charles the Great is the founder of the Christian West on the foundations of Greco-Roman antiquity.  He made Aachen his main residence, the "Rome of the North".

Einhard, in his famous Vita Karoli Magni which is stylistically written after the style of Suetonius', reported over the death and burial of Bl. Charlemagne:

"Septimo, postquam decubuit, die, sacra communione percepta decessit anno aetatis suae septuagesimo secundo et ex quo regnare coeperat quadragesimo septimo, V. Kal. Februarii, hora diei tertia.

In the Middle Ages, Aache was the place of coronation of the German kings for centuries.

The Cathedral is, for Father Gero Weishaupt, the place where he experienced as an acolyte, the beauty of the Latin Liturgy and the rich and deep historical connection between his city, the Church and posterity.

In the following selection, you can hear the burial of an Emperor of the Franks and the Romans, sung by the Aachen Cathedral Choir, the oldest German boy's choir, whose founding goes back to Bl. Charles the Great.  In the relief, one sees among others, the throne (of the Holy Roman Empire [German Nation]) as well as the Charlemagne Shrine with the bones of the beatified on the 29th of December, in any case, in Aachen.

Cardinal Lehmann Thanks Gays For "Stopping" Kreuz.net

Edit: The following translation and title sort of speaks for itself.  Not only does this seem to spell the end for Kreuz.net, at least in its past incarnation, but it may spell the end for the pro-Roman and conservative Network of Catholic Priests, which will have to find a new spokesman now that Father Jolie has been severely and publicly humiliated for his association with kreuz.net.  Network of Catholic Priests has probably embarrassed Germany's Old Liberal elites on everything from Church-tax, to its steadfast refusal to obey the Vatican's call for revising the Missal according to its guidelines.

Another priest from the Diocese of Aachen is trying to disassociate himself from kreuz.net as well.

It's also the case that nobody at this anti-Catholic newspaper cares about freedom of speech in present day National Socialist Germany.

The Bishop of Mainz, Karl Lehman is happy that "kreuz.net" is offline,  however defends himself from a wholesale condemnation of the Church.  At the same time there is substantial evidence that they have more with the agitation site that they will avow: in the criticism  there is a Pastor from the Diocese of Aachen.

Karl Cardinal Lehman has to soil himself in the internet sewer kreuz.net. The intonation of the tirade can amplify itself well, as the homophobic vocabulary of the site has recalled terms like "Gommorrhists" and "gay perverts" which were still comparatively moderate as the site goes.

But since the beginning of December, kreuz.net is no more.   And for this Bishop Lehmann thanked then --  the gays!  That a German Bishop has dared this, is signifies something unparalleled.   In Sunday's published edition of Glaube und Leben [Faith and Life] of the Church newspaper of the Diocese of Mainz, Lehmann wrote:  "It is shameful for the Church that it was at first the initiative of the Bruno-Gmünder Verlag [Publisher of pornography]  and the interest of the Federal Crimes Office together with open debate prepared the way for the unholy goings on."  The Church has not done this with its own means.  "For that reason why all thank, who have contributed clarification, even though they are not friends of the Church."

It is still indeed not decided yet, so long as the Public Prosecuting Attorney have still not been able to determine the operators, and self-described insiders of the recent departure of the site tell of a new appearance on the internet.  But Cardinal Lehmann, 76, has not yet breathed deeply over the preliminary end of the "damaging intrigue".   Why the German Bishops' Conference, who he led till 2008, did not support the proposal "Stoppt kreuz.net" of Homo-Pornographer Bruno Gmunder, was something that Lehmann was silent about. This initiative had inflamed media interest and fanned the police investigation.

Lehmann Criticized the General Suspicion Against the Church

Instead the Cardinal accuses the anti-Kreuz.net activists of turning the Church into a scapegoat.  Because kreuz.net characterized itself as Catholic, several informants, authors and if possible, site administrators came from the clergy, even from the Roman side which has raised the suspicion of some critics of the Church.  Lehmann only criticized this: The opportunity has "been exhausted in an all encompassing criticism of the Church. The deplorable behavior was only less equal than a large swamp. The whole Church is dilapidated..."  In contrast, on the one hand, Lehmann defends calls for the Church to an "examination of conscience of itself at all levels". [Only on his own Old Liberal terms]

And he defended his own actions against a Pastor of his Diocese,  to whom he extended clemency, even though the Bishops' Conference had demanded administrative legal steps against collaborators of the incitement site.  He has given the defendant the benefit of he doubt, wrote Lehmann.  Yet where  is the doubt, if, as he himself says, "that he had participated in the monstrousness, generally in the organization, which had instigated such a hate campaign."?  The Pastor [Father Hendrick Jolie] had lied to him and to the public about his journalistic activities, and only confessed after he could not refute the allegations.  It might have been part of the arrangements with Diocesan authorities that he withdraw from his anti-reformist Catholic Priest Network (KNP).  His post as speaker would no longer be exercised in any case.

The Network now has only two speakers in Germany.  One of them is [Father] Guido Rodheudt, pastor of Herzogenrath, Diocese of Aachen.  He argues in written submissions, denying any complicity with kreuz.net.  However, he acknowledges that he has read the site regularly.  In an interview not yet broadcast by WDR he said, with kreuz.net it was "like a dunghill, which is next to a trash heap in which there are still some edible tomatoes that have really lost something there."  When looking for a tomato in a manure pile, one is worse off.

Apart from that, more evidence has emerged that [Father] Rodheudt had more to do with the hate site than he now knows or wants to admit.  An activists from "Stoppt kreuz.net" says [Father] Rodheudt has a much more combative temperament than his colleagues in Mainz.  But yet he who decidedly expresses himself in interviews on the theme of the faith, yet has only read kreuz.net and never written there.

WDR asked Rodheudt about an internet link between kreuz.net and the website of the NKP (Network of Catholic Priests).  Such links are based as part of a partnership: kreuz.net demanded that if they put their advertising banner on the hate site, that in return they link to kreuz.net.

But the NKP didn't just put up a single link to its page.  It even put up a live ticker, which means that the headlines of new posts of the anonymous users in question, were sent from the hate site to the site of the NKP.   On the equally devout Catholic site gloria.tv, there is an interview with Guido Rodheudt where the live ticker from kreuz.net is still active.  It was already in January of 2009 that NKP told the Süddeutsche Zeitung that this live feed had stopped.  A colleague had asked his "dear brethren" to delete this connection.  He referred to the intervention of two professors who had complained about the "corrosive anti-Church venom of kreuz.net".

The NKP spokesman wrote:  "Dear Brother, thank you for your input, we will address those concerns and take down the news ticker from our homage!."  Until that day, there were titles up like "Jacob made a threesome", "The Holocaust ideology downplays the abortion of children" and "Pope John Paul II -- The Antichrist?"  Scores of these messages ran on the Priest Network page, while kreuz.net was then already in the sites of the media.

Guido Rodheudt says the Priest Network had deleted the link itself.  The site had changed and the style and content of kreuz.net had become unbearable. But the network had already long been cooperating with a "dunghill":  One only needs to look at posts from 2007, which put through titles like "Sodomistic Fornication", the "Homo Concubinage" and "The Homo-Ideological Manipulation."  That was obviously unsustainable for [Father] Guido Rodheudt.

In November 2007, the contribution of a Holocaust denier, contained the following sentence, "Even apparent inconsistencies are forced upon citizens as truths of faith -- whether in connection with gas chambers, Jews allegedly turned into bars of soap or with the actual numbers of casualties." And this stood right next to a banner of the Church Music Association, Sinfonia Sacra.  As he was and is the chairman of this organization, [Father] Guido Rodheudt, was just a priest looking for tomatoes in a manure pile.

Immemorial Mass Commemorating Feast of Bl. Charlemagne the Great in Aachen

Germany. Next Saturday the Diocese of Aachen, the Imperial Capital of old, celebrates the Feast of Charlemagne the Great († 814 on January the 28th at the church of St. Gertrud „In virtute tua”. The event is going to be celebrated by Pastor Guido Rodheudt von Herzogentrath at the usual Saturday Mass time at 9:00. It will be preceded by a lauds at 8:15. The Aachen 'Schola Carolina' will sing under the direction of Dr. Micheal Tunger. This was according to the page 'summorum-pontificum.de'.

A prayer borrowed from Tradition in Action and Dom Prosper Gueranger's Liturgical Year:

“Hail, o Charles, beloved of God, Apostle of Christ, defender of His Church, protector of justice, guardian of good customs, terror of the enemies of the Christian name!

"The tainted diadem of the Caesars – purified by the hands of Leo – sits on your august forehead; the globe of the Empire rests in your vigorous hand; the ever-victorious sword in your combats for Our Lord is sheathed at your waist, and on your forehead the imperial anointing was added to the royal unction by the hand of the Pontiff who consecrated you and confirmed your authority. As the representative of the figure of Christ in His temporal Royalty, you desired that He would reign in you and through you.

“Now God rewards you for the love you had for Him, for the zeal you displayed for His glory, for the respect and confidence you showed toward His Spouse. In exchange for an earthly kingship, transitory and uncertain, you enjoy now an immortal kingdom where so many million of souls, who by your hands escaped idolatry, today honor you as the instrument of their salvation.

“During the days of celebration of the birth of Our Lord by Our Lady, you offered to them the gracious temple you built in their honor (the Basilica of Aix-la-Chapelle), and which is still today the object of our admiration. It was in this place that your pious hands placed the newborn garment worn by her Divine Son. As retribution, the Son of God desired that your bones should gloriously rest in the same place to receive the testimony of the veneration of the peoples.

"O glorious heir to the three Magi Kings of the East, present our souls before the One who wore such a humble garment. Ask Him to give us a part of the profound humility you had as you knelt before the Manger, a part of that great joy that filled your heart at Christmas, a part of that fiery zeal that made you realize so many works for the glory of the Infant Christ, and a part of that great strength that never abandoned you in your conquests for His Kingdom.

“O mighty Emperor, you who of old was the arbiter of the whole European family assembled under your scepter, have mercy on this society that today is being destroyed in all its parts. After more than a thousand years, the Empire that the Church placed in your hands has collapsed as a chastisement for its infidelity to the Church that founded it. The nations still remain, troubled and afflicted. Only the Church can return life to them through the Faith; only she continues to be the depositary of public law; only she can govern the powerful and bless the obedient.

"O Charles the Great, we beseech you to make that day arrive soon when society, re-established at its foundations, will cease asking liberty and order from the revolutions. Protect with a special love France, the most splendid flower of your magnificent crown. Show that you are always her king and father. Put an end to the false progress of the faithless empires of the North that have fallen into schism and heresy, and do not permit the peoples of the Holy Empire to fall prisoner to them.”  H/t: kreuz.net...

Trappist Monastery Continues to Grow Despite Attacks

Terror Attack on Trappist Abbot Fails

The Old Liberal General Director of the Trappist Order in Rome wants the Abbot of Mariawald replaced -- and has fallen on his nose.

(kreuz.net) In 2008 the German Trappist Abbey of Mariawald in Eifel rd the privilege to celebrate the Liturgy and discipline of the Use of Monte Cistello of the year 1964.

The Commission 'Ecclesia Dei' published the Papal decree, after which employees of the State Secretariat had attempted to make the papal decision disappear in a drawer.

Difficult situation

Abbot Dom Josef of Mariawald got such a free hand in his monastery, to reinstate the traditional rites and customs without having had to find democratic majorities.

One third of the convention was for all of it, a third neutral and a third completely against.

Moreover, it was hoped to give a new thrust to new vocations for the Monstery.

However, when a handful of postulants could not meet the strenuous Trappist life - which is normal in such monasteries - and thus it happened that with no immediate flowering, those enemies of the Roman Rite within the order came on the scene.

The Abbot sits firmly in the saddle

It should be understood here that there is a principle of the Trappist community the Trappists that there is a certain number of options about how to interrupt an abbot.

So this was how the abbot of Maria Wald was sidelined by the advisory board.

This, however, quickly lost its teeth, because the Abbot is a wise and strong personality and he doesn't pretend to see things as they aren't.

Thus attempted an impeachment on the Order level.

An abbot, however, can be dismissed only for canonical reasons and has the right to appeal if necessary to a papal court.

Since Abbot Joseph has survived the critical month of September, in which he dealt with the General Council having survived politically, it has become clear that his position is not debatable and he will stay permanently.

The term of office for this reformer Abbot will last until 2038.

Only helps the Trappist prayer

In between 1965 and 1975, the Trappists lost thousands of monks and nuns because of rampant old liberalism.

Nevertheless, the relatively strict Trappist order still has twice as many vocations as members of the milder Cistercian order.

Mariawald has threatened to flip over into a Buddhist meditation center in the past.

At that time the Monastery was still on friendly terms with the Bishop of Aachen, Heinrich Mussinghoff.

Mariawald is located in the Diocese of Aachen.

Resignations, deaths and missing entries diluted an abbey which once had one hundred monks, more and more.

There was at the same time the heroic sanctity of so many brothers, who were mainly working animals, who endured the suffering and the situation in a spirit of prayer and vicarious atonement.

Brother Famian Gerwing who died in February was one of them.

Since the silent monks of Mariawald have begun this year to keep silent for half an hour daily prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, they have again reported serious candidates for the contemplative religious life.

Will the Diocese of Aachen be Driven to Use Force?

Many faithful have gathered themselves around these two Carmelites in Zweifall.  They won't leave the field without a battle.

(kreuz.net) The sword of Damocles of forced expulsion hangs over the head of the two Carmelites of Zweifall.

This was reported in the German boulevard magazine 'Bild' on Monday.

Since their case has become known, Sister Regina(60) and Sister Katharina (40), have received a great sympathetic demonstration.

The Cloister which the two industrious Alsace Nunus occupy about 4.000 cubic meters has been abolished since six years ago by official Diocesan mandate.

The Diocese of Aachen would like to close the Carmel and sell it.

Actually, the Nuns don't need anyone's help. They earn their keep with their host bakery.

By a petition of the Diocese, the Aachen court has assembled an emergency board for the non-Profit association of the Carmel.

The goal: It should dissolve the association. Then the Cloister and the Land will fall to the Diocese.

The two Nuns will defend themselves with tooth and nail:

"I won't go freely", explained Sister Regina to 'Bild': "The Cops are going to have to drag me out of here."

And: "the men in the village stand behind us, will even fight with us, if it's going to get tough."

It's clear to Sister: "If we have to leave the Cloister, it will be as if Jesus had been put a second time on the Cross."

A speaker of the Diocese of Aachen is confident in the members of the Emergency Board. It has dealt with two other Carmlites from two other Cloisters:

"Both nuns in the Emergency Board will decide now, how it will proceed -- and what will be the fate of the two Nuns in Zweifall."

Carmel Zweifall: The Old Liberal Church Strikes Mercilessly

Edit: It bears a faint resemblance to the film The Conflict.

The Diocese of Aachen seems resolved to put the Carmelites in their place.

Pre-Conciliar Carmelite in Her Cell

(kreuz.net) "This lightning has struck from the sunny sky" -- 'Aachen Zeitung' cited Sister Maria Regina (60) yesterday.

The nun was the Sub Prioress in the previous report on the Carmel in Zweifal.

Zweifall is the most southerly part of the north Westphalian city of Stolberg in the vicinity of Aachen.

Two Zweifall sisters have been opposing the decision by the Diocese of Aachen to close the Cloister.

The Long Arm of the Old Liberal Bishops

According to reports from the 'Aachener Zeitung' the official court of Aachen has put into immediate effect an Emergency Board Meeting for the incorporated society 'Carmelites of Stolberg'.

The Society is the occupant of the Carmel.

If the new board decides the Society's dissolution, then the ownership of the entire property will go to the Carmel at the Diocese of Aachen.

The court is basing its steps for the reason that the Society has been without a board sine the death of its Prioress Sister Maria Helene on 27. Juli 2006, and also without a legitimate representative.

The named emergency board are two Carmelites from Auderath and Düren.

Both Zweifall Sisters view them only as the "emissaries" of the Bishop.

They fear that they will have to leave the Cloister and that the property will be sold.

The Battle Lies Ahead

The Conflict surrounding the Carmel has been going since 2004.

On the one side are the Sisters and the circle of friends of the Carmel and on the other is the Old Liberal Diocese of Aachen.

In the past even the Police have sided with the Sisters after an emergency call from them.

The nuns felt threatened by the then Cathedral Rector, Herbert Hammans.

Johann Ehlen -- the speaker for the Circle of Friends -- feels pessimistic: "I fear this is the end of the Cloister."

The struggle is at least legally lost because all legal recourse has been exhausted.

Hhlen had hard words for the decadent Diocese: "Our ecclesiastical life will be destroyed. One pastor we haven't had since four years ago. Now they want to take our Cloister."

Still, the Sub Prioress still won't give up the struggle: "I will leave this Cloister in a Coffin."

"They'll Only Take me Out of Here in a Coffin"

Without any substantial motivation the German boulevard paper is helping the Carmelites of Zweifal with a shot of media fame: "He didn't even congratulate us on our fifty year Cloister Jubilee."

(kreuz.net) "I'm leaving this Cloister only when I'm dead" -- said Sister Regina (60) for the German website 'bild.de' today regarding the officially disbanded Carmel in Zweifal.

Zweifal is the most southerly part of the North Rhein-Westfalian city of Stolberg in the vicinity of Aachen.

The sisters there have been resisting the decision of the Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Aachen to close the Cloister for six years.

Six Years on Death Row

The Diocese of Aachen

The Carmelite Cloister Maria Königin was founded in 1955 besides Sister Regina, there are still Schwester Katharina (40) and Schwester Maria (28).

The Cloister occupies 4,000 cubic meters of living space and the estate is on a hill that's about as tall as two football fields.

For six years the Bishop Heinrich Mussinghof of Aachen has wanted to close the community due to a lack of growth.

In the best days the Cloister held twenty Carmelites.

Actually, the Carmelites of Zeifal oppose the Bishop with deathly courage.

"I have lived her for thirty years. I won't go freely. That is God's will", explained Sister Regina for 'bild.de'.

And: "I will leave this Cloister only when I'm dead, the only way they'll get me out of here is in a coffin."

"We're not indulging ourselves in anything else"

Sister Maria is presently "on a trip".

Sister Katharina commented in an explanation: "Earlier there was nothing. But we have established ourselves. Otherwise we're really not indulging ourselves."

The Sisters live by their host backery -- which produces 80.000 hosts a week.

The customers are about 200 parishes and cloisters in the Diocese of Aachen and Cologne.

Vegetables and grapes come right out of their own greenhouse.

Fight to the end

The Diocese wants to continue to bar the Cloister. It doesn't want any force used against the Sisters.

"We have a good legal case and are turning if need be to the courts" -- said Sister Regina combatively.

"The Diocese  can't really dissolve us."

That's something only the Sisters' mother house can do:  "Otherwise we have the village behind us."

What if the Bishop calls?  "Then we'll invite him for Coffee", said the Abbess -- and continued to attack:

"But he didn't even congratulate us on your fifty year Jubilee."

One Third of Aachen Diocese's Real-Estate May be Sold

Disintegration in record time.  In the Diocese of Aachen every third church building will be put up for sale.   The Catholic Faith has long ago been bartered away.

(kreuz.net)On Monday the General Vicar, Manfred von Hotum of Aachen is unveiling the Diocesan support project with the beautiful name "Church Property Management".

This was reported by the Diocese of Aachen.

In the Diocese of Aachen there are over 900 churches as well as  450 rectories and parish offices.

Actually, there isn't enough money for the support of the buildings.

The Diocese would need 18 million Euro.  There's a ten million dollar shortfall.

In other words:  over a third of the ecclesiastical structures must be closed down in the near future.

The General Vicar explained that the Diocese must economize because of significantly "declining donations by the faithful" in previous years and the narrowing church tax income.

The number of the rectories have already been slashed in the Diocese of Aachen.

Since last year there were still 71 so-called church communities.

All of these "church communities" is decreed over several churches, rectories, pastoral bureaus and chapels.

With that there is the question about which these guildings are not being used for.

As a "good example" for this conversion, consider the former Parish church of St. Josef in Aachen.

It is used today as a burial church.

Even the church of St. Mary in Düren has a new purpose.  The rectory here was integrated into the church building.

Actually the plans of the Diocese go still further.

Unoccupied rectories will be closed.

Where small communities don't need a rectory, a corresponding space could be set up in the church and the community center could be sold.

Churches that are seldom used will be put on the real-estate market.

"We're going to take these churches into serious and lengthy consideration" -- said a conciliatory General Vicar.

It is conceivable could be closed for fifteen to twenty years, "till a suitable solution is found."

In other words:  One will wait to sell the churches, till there won't be fear of any more resistance from the remaining Catholics against the desecration of God's house.
